Background
Since 2003, the folks at Bodegas Peñafiel have been crafting high-quality wines in the renowned Ribera del Duero region of Spain. This small stone winery sources grapes from its 32-hectare vineyards in Peñafiel and Castrillo. They cultivate Tinta del País, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that thrive under the region's exceptional climate. Bodegas Peñafiel ages its wines in French oak barrels, giving them a unique character that reflects the essence of the local terroir. With each sip, you will experience the subtle flavors of its surroundings.
Production Process
The magic starts with perfectly ripe Tempranillo grapes, handpicked from old vines that produce only 3,500 kilograms per hectare, thus ensuring concentrated flavors. After resting in breathable baskets, only the best grapes make the cut, thanks to a careful selection process both in the vineyard and in the cellar. There, for eleven days, fermentation brings the essence of the grapes to life. Daily pump-overs and gentle skin contact for 22 days further enhance the complexity of the future wine. Finally, resting in specially selected French oak barrels imbues the wine with a touch of magic.
